About
My name is Mark Trodd. I am a Christian, husband, father, and now grandfather, who loves to write – I feel naked without a pen. I live in Australia and have been a Christian since 1973. I married my sweetheart from high school, and we are still going strong. I have three adult children. After eighteen years as a Primary School Teacher, I left to explore other possibilities. The funny thing is that I now work part-time as a school cleaner. Ironically, I get some of my best ideas while vacuuming and now have more time to write. I prefer to write on spiritual themes, both for children and adults, and hope to make a positive difference in their lives. Hippo in the Stable, and its sequel Hippo in the Garden , represent my first foray into publishing children’s books. They were inspired by a puppet my wife used to tell stories in Kindergarten and Sunday School.
Writing has been the way I like to think about and reflect on life and the world, but much of what I have written has stayed hidden until the last few years. My favourite Bible verse is Ezra 7:10
“For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the LORD, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.”– Ezra 7:10
because what it says about Ezra is true about me. My passion is to write about the issues of life and what the scriptures have to say about them. My burden is to encourage Christians to take the time to read their Bibles and to discover the Lord behind the words. I want to write for Jesus – not money – and also want to encourage other Christian writers to do the same. But, it is okay to be paid for what you do if you can.
Vision
- To Write for Jesus as ‘God’s Ready Writer’.
- To Encourage and mobilise Christian Writers to write for Jesus.
- To Publish and distribute material through the internet, that builds strong biblical foundations and gives sound biblical responses to issues and challenges facing the church today.
My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. – Psalm 45:1
